Site History
Originally called Graphics Inuyasha, created on April 16, 2006. It seemed
best that the name be changed since it was no longer only a site for Inuyasha graphics.
A shuriken is one of those throwing stars that ninjas throw.
Past Layouts
This is my first layout ever.. and I am still proud of its uniqueness. It featured Leifang and Kasumi from Dead or Alive Extreme 2. The coding and images proved troublesome and hazardous. Plus, freewebs (we had this layout before we moved to awardspace) was always running out of bandwidth. Which was very bad since this layout was ALL images. Nothing special to it without them. If you want to see a full-size screenshot feel free to click the thumbnails. ^-^
As for Shuriken's first layout, and the main systems second layout, the header presented the awesome Cortana from Halo 2. Its purple theme always caught people's attention which was a nice thing to have, since most people have blue or brownish layouts. (I am not a personal fan of purple) Many people said they liked it, and I was proud to say momo and I made it.
My favorite of all my layouts in the previous. The green and black was a new color theme for me, even though I am a huge Xbox fan. The layout starred Ryu from Ninja Gaiden (yes he also appears in Dead or Alive, but the picture was from Ninja Gaiden) There were a few sparkles on the image which managed to make him look innocent.. though we all know he is indeed NOT (He is a ninja give him a break! T-T). This was a very organized layout and hopefully Shuriken will see more layouts like this one.
Inferno, referring to intense fire seemed to fit the well known Axel from Kingdom Hearts 2 very well. I posted this layout around Valentine's day for my friend, who is now a staff member, Amaya. Lucky her this layout was up a very long time.. the longest of all the layouts so far. This was one of my first blending images for the header. It resembled the Ryu layout a lot.. but never did seem to own up to the flashy green against black. It may just be me, but this is not my favorite of my layouts (probably because it was up so long)
Due to my lack of memory... I cracked the whip on poor momo to put up the new layout and forgot to take a screen shot of this pink, summer themed layout. What is so odd about this layout, is I ONLY made the image, momo did the rest. The header image was made by me back in August of last year... my first 'blend' of pictures I ever made. The four girls on the layout- Kasumi, Lei, Ayane, and Hitomi were all in their swimsuits from Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball 2. While this layout was up, I couldn't visit my site when at school unless I wanted to get weird looks. I wish I would not have been so forgetful as to not remember to screen shoot the layout.
The first yellow layout I have ever done, but many people told me it looked good, so I will go by what they said. The reason for the yellow is because it is Lei Fang (the person featured in the layout) 's favorite color! Shuriken dedicated a layout to Lei because it was her birthday, and hey, it stayed up from April 23 to June 14! Links in the header image caused the most confusion since the rectangles were hard to pick out for some people. Though this one is very different from any of Shuriken's other layouts, I am willing to keep it that way. This layout was up maybe even longer than the Axel layout. O.O
This frame layout featuring Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden stood from June 15th to August 28th of 2007. It was to celebrate his birthday, and I have made it clear to a lot of people that I am a Ryu fangirl, so I did not mind having him up for a while... but hey, every look gets old after a while. Plus, the images had a hard time loading and people were having problems navigating. This Fiery layout had a black background for those of you with larger screen resolutions, thus hence the name Black Abyss. One of Ryu's famous victory lines is "May your soul scatter into the black abyss." Therefore I found it to be fitting. This layout is by far the most different of Shuriken's past layouts up to date and will probably stay that way.
I looked at the history of all the layouts on Shuriken.. and I noticed that Riku did not have a spot on here! He was the reason I even held interest in the first game, so if it weren't for him, I would not have given this series a second glance. So, since I needed to experiment with the new program I had, I made this tan layout. It was one of the shortest lived layouts, but hey, the thought counts, right? Glad to report that I can do better than this with that program. Like I said before, it was just a test, and I ended up thinking it looked alright.
Vincent Valentine's birthday 'is' in October, the middle of the month sometime or other. So, momo worked hard to make a layout that had him and fit in well with halloween. She did a good job, didn't she? I liked the grunge look, but most likely because I can't pull it off yet. The color scheme was mainly set to maroon, much like blood, (also featuring blood spatters if I remember right.) Since I did not make this one, there is nothing really for me to rant about. : \
I have yet to take a picture of the current layout. Which will be added once we change layouts. The reason why I made this gallery of past layouts was to show just how much we learn in graphics over time. In fact I (Kasumi) have not even been a graphic designer for just a little over a year yet. For the first five months or so all I had was paint. But skills in Microsoft Paint come in handy too...
